This large handsome Jambati bowl just ticks all the boxes!  It stunning good looks are matched by an exceptionally beautiful low pulsating tone that goes on and on.  The fundamental note is a wonderful third octave E flat whether struck with a padded mallet or played around the rim with a suede ringer.  If a wooden ringer is used the rim note changes to a mid octave B…and when you lift the ringer off the bowl it just keeps singing…on and on…simply wonderful!  This bowl is so responsive and very easy to play, and with a little water inside it will readily produce fountains.

 

The bowl is in very nice shape too, in good condition and virtually free of blemishes.  It has the classic Jambati form with gently curved walls with lovely hammer markings, a wide inward-facing triangular lip, and a small base.  There are a couple of decorative circles on the inside floor, and three engraved lines forming a collar just below the outer rim.

 

Simply a wonderful antique singing and fountain bowl with an exceptional and fabulous voice!
