This large antique bowl has a very beautiful voice…a third octave F# (187Hz) whether struck with a padded mallet or played around the rim.  This is clearly a very old bowl, with its mottled hammered walls now worn quite smooth.  It has a relatively low profile for a Jambati bowl, and is also quite heavy for its size.    Decorative features include faint circles at its centre, a fabulous wide and grooved lip, and boldly incised lines forming a collar around the outer rim.   This attractive old bowl has bags of character and the look and feel of antiquity.  It is in excellent and clean structural condition.
