Antique Jambati Singing Bowl. F3 & F#3 Note (179-183Hz) Heart Chakra
Weight 2.23 kilos (4 lb 14 ½ oz). Size 29 x 14 cm (approx. 11 ½ x 5 ½ inches)
This large and heavy antique Jambati singing bowl has a very beautiful pulsating voice that varies between a third octave F (179Hz) and F# (183Hz) when struck with a padded mallet, while the rim note is F#3 when played with a suede ringer. It’s a very responsive bowl and easy to play, and while the played note is very nice indeed, the struck note is exceptionally lovely…pure with a good sustain. This 19th century bowl is in excellent condition, externally clean, but with some copper oxidization inside which is quite commonplace on older bowls. Decorative features include circles at its centre, a fabulous wide and grooved lip, and boldly incised lines forming a deep collar around the outer rim. This attractive old bowl has bags of character and the look and feel of antiquity.
Listen: (3 struck notes and 1 played note)
