Antique Jambati Singing Bowl. C3 (Root Chakra)
Weight 5 lb 6 oz. (2.44 kilos). 30 x 13.5 cm (approx. 11 ¾ x 5 ¼ inches)
This is a wonderful old bowl with good looks and a stunning voice! It’s a very large 11 ¾ inch antique Jambati with a lovely third octave C note that is quite close to concert pitch whether struck with a padded mallet or played around the rim with a suede ringer (both supplied). The struck note is particularly beautiful and it has a very long sustain.
This is a very fine quality deep-bodied bowl, quite heavy at nearly 2 ½ kilos, but well proportioned with fine smooth walls that are a tactile delight. It’s an older bowl that probably dates from the 18th century. Decorative features are limited to a few incised lines forming a band or collar just below the outer rim. The bowl is structurally sound with barely a mark or blemish. It has a fabulous antique golden bronze colour and the patina of long use and antiquity.
A Tibetan silk brocade bowl cushion, a padded striker, and a double-ended teak and suede ringer are all included in the price.

Listen: (3 struck notes and 2 played notes)
Note: I discovered a tiny scratch or cut across the rim edge when making this recording. It has no impact on the sound when striking or playing the bowl with a suede ringer (my preference) but might be slightly discernable or felt if a wooden ringer is used, and for this reason I have reduced the price of this lovely bowl by £75 (about $115).
P.S. Twin Bowls – by a strange coincidence I have two virtually identical antique Jambati bowls like this one…with the exact same shape, dimensions (11¾”), weight (2.44 kilos) and C3 note. There may be occasions when the sound of two perfectly matched bowls singing the exact same note together (resonating at the same frequency) is better than one…perhaps to fill a great hall with surround sound, or to create an echo effect, or for one to be struck while the other is played around the rim. Please contact me if you are interested in purchasing both. The price for both bowls will be £2,950 plus shipping.
Note: As this is an unusually heavy bowl there will be a surcharge to cover the additional cost of shipping and insurance to destinations outside the UK. Overseas buyers will later be invoiced at cost for any shipping and insurance shortfall (estimated to be between $60 and $100 to USA and Canada).
