Large 12-Inch 20th Century Golden Jambati Singing Bowl – G/G#2 & D4
SOLD
Large Jambati Singing Bowl. Note G/G#2 & D4 (Throat & Sacral Chakras)
Weight 2.54 kilos (5 lb 9 oz). 30 x 13.5 cm (12 x 5 ¼ inches)
This impressive Jambati Singing Bowl is believed to date from the early 20th century and has a beautiful golden bronze colour and an honest simplicity of form without any decorative artwork.
It has an excellent low second octave G/G#2 (99-101Hz) fundamental that is usually accompanied by a middle D4 (300Hz) harmonic when struck with a padded mallet or played around the rim with a suede ringer. The powerful struck note has a pronounced beat with massive sustain and would easily fill a large concert hall. The rim note is an unaccompanied D4 (300Hz) with a wooden ringer.
This lovely singing bowl is quite heavy. It has a sheered lip. It is structurally sound, clean, and free of stains, and its hammered walls are sensually smooth to the touch both inside and out.
A Tibetan silk brocade bowl cushion and 2 small ringers are included in the price.
