Large Jambati Singing Bowl. Note G2 & E4 (Throat & Solar Plexus Chakras)

Weight 2.69 kilos (5 lb 15 oz).  31 x 13.5 cm (12 ¼ x 5 ½ inches)

This impressive Jambati Singing Bowl is believed to date from the early 20th century and has a beautiful golden bronze colour and an honest simplicity of form without any decorative artwork.

It has an excellent low second octave G#2 (105Hz) fundamental with a long sustain when struck with a padded mallet or played around the rim with a suede ringer.  The powerful struck note is close to perfect pitch, has a pronounced beat, and would easily fill a large hall.   The rim note changes to a middle E4 (320Hz) with a wooden ringer.

This is a substantial bowl with thick walls and therefore quite heavy and best placed on a mat or cushion for playing.   It is structurally sound, clean, and free of stains.  Its hammered walls are sensually smooth to the touch both inside and out, and have an attractive mottled surface.

A Tibetan silk brocade bowl cushion, padded striker, and a ringer are all included in the price.
