Antique Jambati Singing Bowl. Notes: F#2 & C#4 (Heart & Root Chakras)
Weight 2.23 kilos (4 lb 14 oz). Size 28.5 x 14.5 cm (11 ¼ x 5 ¾ inches)
This superior quality 19th century Jambati Singing Bowl has a lovely low 2nd octave F#2 (91Hz) fundamental that is close to perfect pitch when struck with a padded mallet or played around the rim with a ringer. When played with a suede ringer the rim note is a wonderful, powerful, and pulsating C#4 (273Hz) accompanied by the 2nd octave F#2 droning in the background. This bowl is also capable of producing the vibrant OM sound.
This antique singing bowl has a finely beaten and unusually high-sided wall, with a plain sheered rim, and a gently rounded bottom. It’s a heavy bowl at 2 ¼ kilos but light for its size and seems comfortable to hold and play.
It is in good structural condition, clean and stain-free but with some slight surface pitting inside commensurate with its age. It is sensually smooth to the touch, attractive, and a pleasure to play.
A Tibetan silk brocade bowl cushion and a double-ended teak and suede ringer are included in the price.
