Large 19th Century Tibetan Thadobati Singing Bowl – C4 Note
SOLD
Antique Tibetan Thadobati Singing Bowl. C4 Note (Root Chakra)
Weight 2 lb 11 oz (1.22 kilos). 21.5 x 9.5 cm (approx. 8 ½ x 3 ¾ inches)
This is an unusually large fine quality antique Thadobati Singing Bowl with an excellent voice…a beautiful pulsating mid octave C fundamental whether struck or played around the rim with a ringer.
This 19th century bowl has the thick high-sided walls and wide flat bottom that characterize the Thadobati form. It has a very nice rim and lip, and there are traces of decorative banding around the outer wall…but these have been worn smooth over time and are now barely visible.
However, the impressive size of this bowl and its simplicity of form combine to produce a bowl of great presence and beauty.
This exceptional Thadobati singing bowl has the most attractive antique golden bronze colour. It is smooth and tactile, and a delight to hold and play! A teak and suede ringer is included in the price.
