Antique Jambati Singing Bowl. D4 & A5 (Sacral & Third Eye Chakras)
Weight 4 lb 0½ oz (1.83 kilos). 25.5 x 10.5 cm (approx. 10 x 4¼ inches)
This large antique bowl has a very beautiful and distinctive voice…a middle D (291Hz) with subtle variations of tone according to where on the side of the bowl it is struck. The played note is the same D4 when a suede ringer is used, but the rim note changes to an excellent and amazing fifth octave A (878Hz) if a wooden one is employed.
This is clearly a very old bowl, with its mottled hammered walls now worn quite smooth. It has a relatively low profile for a Jambati bowl, and is also quite heavy for its size.
Decorative features include circles at its centre, a fabulous wide and grooved lip, and boldly incised lines forming a collar around the outer rim.
This attractive old bowl has bags of character and the look and feel of antiquity. It is in excellent structural condition, and has the rich patina of age and use.
A Tibetan silk brocade bowl cushion, a padded striker and a double-ended teak and suede ringer are all included in the price.
