Large Antique Jambati Singing Bowl – Fabulous Eb3
SOLD
Large Antique Jambati Singing Bowl. Eb3 Note (Solar Plexus Chakra)
Weight 2 lb 15 ½ oz (1.35 Kilos). 25 x 11.5 cm (approx. 9 ¾ x 4 ½ inches)
This is a large superior quality antique Jambati Singing Bowl with a fabulous and powerful third octave Eb fundamental. The note is the same whether struck with a padded drumstick/striker or played around the rim with a suede ringer. The rim note changes to Bb4 if a hard wooden ringer is used. This bowl will also produce nice fountains if played with a little water inside.
This bowl is believed to date from the 18th century and has very finely forged walls that make it light to hold and a pleasure to play. As an older bowl it has been handled, played, used and cleaned countless times over the years…causing its fine hammered walls to be further refined to the point where they are now almost satin smooth.
This Jambati has a particularly attractive form, with walls that gracefully turn in towards the rim. It has an excellent triangulated lip and some incised decorative banding forming a collar below the rim. It is in excellent structural condition. It has a nice golden bronze colour and is virtually free of stains and blemishes.
A fabulous old bowl with an exceptional voice!
A Tibetan brocade bowl cushion and a teak and suede ringer are included in the price.
