Large Antique Jambati Singing & Fountain Bowl – Fabulous C4 & F2
SOLD
Large Antique Jambati Singing & Fountain Bowl. C4 with F2 Harmonic (Root & Heart Chakras)
Weight 5 lb 4 ¼ oz (2.39 Kilos). 30 x 14.5 cm (approx. 11 ¾ x 5 ¾ inches)
This is a very large high-wall antique Jambati Singing Bowl with a fabulous and powerful voice.
When struck with a padded drumstick or striker the fundamental note appears to be a low second octave F with a pronounced beat. When played around the rim with a suede ringer the note briefly begins as an F2 but very quickly becomes a fantastic and powerful, pure and penetrating middle C. On balance I would say this is a fundamental C bowl with an F2 harmonic that the meter picks up first when struck.
During the transition from the F2 rim-note to the full-blown C4 there is a point where the low F quietly hums as it accompanies the middle C harmonic. This lovely harmonic is easily maintained or overridden by varying the speed and pressure applied to the ringer. If played with a little water inside this bowl is capable of producing great fountains.
This old bowl possesses a simplicity of form that I find very attractive. It has few distinguishing features beyond its beautiful shape and the abundant but subtle forged hammer markings that have been worn smooth during the bowl’s lifetime. Its walls are clean, fine and regular, and virtually free of stains and blemishes. This bowl has the look and feel of antiquity.
A Tibetan brocade bowl cushion and a teak and suede ringer are included in the price.
