A nice quality 19thcentury Manipuri singing bowl featuring decorative sun motifs (punched dots surrounded by circles) all around the lip and also set within a pair of concentric circles at its centre.
The fundamental note is a third octave F# (185Hz) when struck with a padded mallet, while the rim note is a fifth octave C (531Hz) if played with a suede ringer, and a fifth octave B (1,000Hz) if a wooden ringer is employed.
This bowl is in very nice condition for its age, clean and virtually stain free.
A Tibetan silk brocade bowl cushion and a double-ended teak and suede ringer are included in the price.
