Antique Manipuri Singing Bowl.   F3 & C5 (Heart & Root Chakras)

This is a large antique Manipuri Singing Bowl with a good third octave F (177-180Hz) fundamental when struck with a padded mallet or played around the rim with a suede ringer.  The rim note changes to a fifth octave concert C (524Hz) if played with a wooden ringer.

This is a top quality 19th century Manipuri bowl, heavy for its size, with extra-thick and regular walls.  Its level lip has a couple of extremely tiny nicks close to the playing edge that cannot be felt or heard with a suede ringer, and have no impact on the sound quality. 

Nonetheless I have reduced the price of this bowl by 15%.   

It is smooth inside and out, and has a golden bronze colour.  The outer wall has several decorative incised lines forming a collar below the rim, and there are circles at its centre.

This old bowl is in excellent structural condition and is attractive, clean and free of stains.

A Tibetan silk brocade bowl cushion and a double-ended teak and suede ringer are included in the price.
