This large antique Jambati Singing Bowl has rather thick walls and at almost 2 ½ kilos is surprisingly heavy for its size. It has been very well crafted.  The gently curved walls are of a consistent thickness.  It has a plain sheered lip with a single decorative band encircling the outer rim, and circles at its centre.  There is an attractive simplicity to its form.

This bowl is really responsive and has an exceptionally lovely voice…a powerful, low and sonorous second octave G#2 (101Hz) when struck with a padded mallet or played around the rim with a suede ringer.  There is a middle D4 (290Hz) harmonic, and the rim note changes to a fifth octave C#5 (552Hz) with a wooden ringer.

This bowl is in excellent structural condition, attractive, and basically clean with a couple of small stains inside.   A lovely premium quality old bowl with a fabulous voice!
