This is a large antique Jambati Singing Bowl with a wide 11 ½ inch diameter and an unusually low profile.   The struck note is a nice low second octave G# with a second octave A harmonic. The rim note is a G#2 or an A2 depending on the type of ringer used.  This bowl will also produce fountains if played with a little water inside.

 

This old bowl is extremely well forged, with fine regular walls, a strong triangulated and downward-sloping lip, and two finely incised lines forming a decorated collar below the rim, and faint circles inside the basin.  The condition of this bowl is very good.  It has nice hammer markings with some patina of age.

 

This bowl has a really great voice!

 

A Tibetan brocade bowl cushion, a teak and suede ringer, and a padded mallet are all included in the price.
