Large Superior Quality Antique Chalice/Stem Singing Bowl – Eb4 & A5

This is a large antique Chalice or Stem Singing Bowl with an excellent perfect pitch middle octave Eb4 (312Hz) fundamental when struck with a padded mallet or played around the rim with a suede ringer.  The rim gradually develops into a fifth octave A5 (887Hz) if desired; the same note that is produced with a wooden ringer.  It is also slightly self-amplifying.

It has the typical shape of this interesting and now quite rare bowl type, with its bulbous belly set on a pedestal ring, and multiple decorative bands around the outer rim.

Below the decorative bands on the outer wall there is a fine dot-punched inscription spread across two lines, with a large fish motif at either end.

This superior quality bowl is in excellent structural condition, and has a bright golden bronze colour.
