Weight 1 lb 14 oz (853g).   18 x 9 cm (approx. 7 x 3 ½ inches)

 

This is a large antique Thadobati Singing Bowl with an excellent mid octave D fundamental.  The note is the same whether struck with a padded mallet or played around the rim with a suede ringer.

 

This is a good quality bowl, thicker and heavier than most at this size, and with decorative incised banding at intervals around its outer wall and, unusually, two concentric circles at the centre underneath.  It has a very nice deeply grooved lip and a band of punched dots (now faint) just below the rim.

 

The bowl is structurally sound.  It has an attractive yellowish golden colour and virtually free of stains and blemishes.
