Light Antique Jambati Singing & Fountain Bowl – D3/Eb3 Cusp & Bb4

SOLD

Antique Jambati Singing Bowl. Notes: D3/Eb3 & Bb4 (Sacral/Solar Plexus Chakras)
Weight: 1.19 kilos (2 lb 10 oz).  Size: 23 x 10 cm (9 ½ x 4 inches)

This medium-size Antique Jambati Singing Bowl has a very fine wall that makes it unusually light for its size and therefore comfortable for hand-held playing for an extended period.  Fine walls increase a bowl’s vibrant energy and make low fundamental notes more likely.

This old singing bowl has a slightly conical shape when viewed from the side.  It is taller than average and has an inward facing lip and a flat bottom.  Three decorative lines encircle the outer rim, with another halfway down the wall.  The circles that were probably once at its center have been worn away from long use.

The fundamental note is on the cusp (sits midway) between D3 and Eb3…the struck note being a third octave D3 (149Hz) while the rim note is a third octave Eb3 (152Hz) when played with a suede ringer.  The rim note changes to a middle octave Bb4 (458Hz) when played with a wooden ringer.  With a little practice this bowl is capable of producing vibrant fountains of energized water when played with a little water inside.

This antique Jambati is in good structural condition, free of stains and blemishes, but with aged copper oxidization on the inside, probably where water has been left to stand a long time.

A complementary Tibetan silk brocade bowl cushion and a teak and suede ringers are included.
