Antique Golden Ultabati Singing Bowl – Excellent Low A2 – Fountains!
SOLD
Ultabati Singing Bowl. Notes: A2 & Eb4 (Third Eye & Solar Plexus Chakras)
Weight 770 grams (1 lb 11 oz). Size 21 x 10 cm (8 ¼ ix 4 inches)
This medium size Ultabati has a wonderful low second octave A2 (112Hz) fundamental when struck with a padded mallet or played around the rim with a suede ringer. The A2 is close to perfect pitch. Low second octave notes are mainly found in very large and heavy bowls, but this is an exception, mainly on account of its fine wall producing lots of vibrant energy. The rim note changes to a middle octave Eb4 (314Hz) harmonic with a wooden ringer.
This bowl will make excellent splashy fountains if played around the rim with water inside.
This bowl has ultra fine walls that have been worn sensually smooth from years of use, and any decorative features it might once have possessed, such as circles at its centre, have been worn away. It probably dates from the early 19th century.
It is structurally sound, and basically clean, save for a tiny surface crack on the outer rim. It’s really just a cosmetic issue as it doesn’t penetrate to the inside and has no impact on the quality of sound, which is excellent. It has a lovely antique golden colour.
A small cushion, padded striker, and a ringer are included in the price.
