12-Piece Chromatic Chakra Set of Rare Extra-Large Antique Lingam Singing Bowls

Notes D3, Eb3, E3, F3, F#3, G3, G#3, A3, Bb3, B3, C4 and C#4

This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to acquire A COMPLETE 12-PIECE CHAKRA SET of rare and exceptionally large ANTIQUE LINGAM SINGING BOWLS.  This unique extra-large sequential chromatic chakra set comprises 10 third octave bowls and 2 forth octave bowls ranging from D3 to C#4 and dating from the 17th to the 19th century.  Five of the bowls are perfect pitch, others are very close, and two bowls carry inscriptions.  Their average diameter is 7.58 inches (19.25 cm) and their average weight is 3 ½ pounds (1.59 kilos).

This amazing set has been personally assembled over a considerable period and carefully matched by size, shape, age, condition, octave and pitch.  They have been tuned sequentially to the fundamental note when hand-held and at rest on a cushion then struck with a padded mallet.  In most cases the rim note is the same if played with a suede ringer.

All are in excellent structural condition and supplied uncleaned exactly ‘as found’ at source in the Himalayas with their grime and aged patina intact.  They could be cleaned and polished with a little effort if desired, but I personally prefer them as they are with their life-story intact and the look and feel of great antiquity.

Each bowl comes with a Tibetan silk brocade bowl cushion and ringer.  Two padded strikers are also included.

There are some truly exceptional bowls in this set, and if sold individually they would be priced between £800 and £1,250 ($1,115 and $1,740).  This would be considerably above the set total which averages £800 (about US$1,115) per bowl.

This is quite likely to be the only complete set of 12 large antique lingam bowls available in the world today, and one would therefore expect an extra premium to be applied to such a unique set, but I am aware that the price is already a considerable amount and beyond the means of many.  Proceeds from the sale of my singing bowl collection fund my orphanages and humanitarian work in Nepal.

Antique Lingam bowls have distinctive physical and sonic qualities and are used in sacred and ritual ceremonies.  I have been sourcing antique singing bowls in the Himalayas for over 35 years, and lingam bowls form a major part of my private collection.  They are now so rare that most collectors and practitioners will never have encountered or handled a single lingam bowl, so one can only imagine how special this complete chromatic/chakra set of 12 extra-large bowls really is!
