Antique Jambati Singing Bowl. G#2 & Eb4 (Throat & Solar Plexus Chakras)
Weight 2.47 kilos (5 lb 7 ¼ oz). Size 30 x 13.5 cm (approx. 11 ¾ x 5 ¼ inches)
This is a large and rather lovely antique Jambati singing bowl with a multi-harmonic voice. The fundamental struck note is a low second octave G# (102Hz) that is sometimes accompanied by a middle octave Eb (303Hz) when played around the rim with a suede ringer. A wooden ringer will produce a higher D5 (607Hz). It will also produce fountains if played with a little water inside.
This is an attractive and well-forged bowl with finely hammered walls that have been worn smooth with use over the years. It is in good structural condition, and has a nice golden colour and is free of stains and blemishes.
A Tibetan silk brocade bowl cushion, a padded mallet and a ringer are all included in the price.

Listen: (2 struck notes and 2 played notes, suede then wood ringer)
Note: This antique bowl is part of my original collection, and having visited Nepal 7 times in the last 18 months I cannot stress enough how hard it has become to source genuine antiques of this size and quality, with bowls over 11 inches (28cm) now almost impossible to find.
