Mani Singing Bowl – Powerful Voice
SOLD
Rare 16th – 18th Century Antique Tibetan Mani Singing Bowl. F Note (Heart Chakra)
Weight 4 lb (1.84 kilos). 20 x 17.5 (rim) x 10 cm (approx. 7 ¾ x 4 inches)
This is a very substantial and heavy Mani bowl of considerable character and age, with one of the most powerful voices we’ve come across…a penetrating F of sufficient purity and volume to fill an arena. It is very responsive and extremely easy to play.
It has the typical bulbous Mani shape and decorative features, including a grooved and inward-facing lip and bands around the rim and belly, as well as concentric circles on the inside floor. There is an interesting irregularity to the underside of the lip that probably reflects the difficulty of forging beneath the overhang inside the bowl. The bowl is in very good condition for its great age, and virtually free of blemishes and stains. It’s certainly one of the best we have come across.
This Mani bowl has both character and a fantastic singing voice…it’s not often the two come together!
