This medium size Thadobati Singing Bowl has an excellent concert pitch voice…a middle octave G# (415Hz).  The note is the same whether struck with a padded mallet or played around the rim with a suede ringer.  A wooden ringer brings out several harmonics but they all eventually resolve to the same perfect pitch G#4.  This medium-size bowl is relatively light and therefore comfortable to hold and play for an extended period.

This bowl is characteristic of early Thadobati bowls with its flat bottom, gently curved high-sided wall, grooved lip, and folded rim. There are two small circles at its centre.  A particularly nice feature is the decorative band of sun motifs (dots within a circles) encircling the outer rim; a feature common to 17^th to 19^th century bowls of this type.

This superb old bowl is structurally sound and in nice condition.  Its walls are deliciously smooth and basically clean, but with some light surface blemishes in places.
