This is an excellent quality and very attractive medium size antique Jambati Singing Bowl. The struck note is a nice third octave G# and the rim note a good fifth octave Eb.

The rim note is best played with a wooden ringer as suede tends to spin the bowl on the palm of the hand due to the bowl’s unusually rounded bottom. It is this gracefully rounded shape that makes this bowl so pretty and a delight to hold and play.

This old bowl is extremely well forged, with fine regular walls with a myriad of tiny hammer marks, a strong triangulated lip, and several finely incised lines forming a decorated collar below the rim. There are several large concentric circles inside the basin. The condition of this bowl is very good. It has a nice golden colour and is largely free of blemishes and stains.

A Tibetan brocade bowl cushion and a teak and suede ringer are included in the price.
