This is a charming medium-small size antique Lingam Singing Bowl that has a unique and rather haunting voice, and also benefits from a small inscription…implying that it was held in high esteem by a former keeper.  The fundamental note is a mid octave G whether struck or played around the rim.

There is a nice pointed lingam at its centre and neat navel underneath.  It has a grooved lip and a band of decorative dots below the rim…all other decorative features being worn away with use over time.

The bowl is in good structural condition and basically clean although there are some small patches of copper oxidization scattered around the inside floor.  This is quite commonplace in particularly old bowls, and generally doesn’t diminish their beauty or affect the sound quality.

A Tibetan silk brocade bowl cushion and a teak and suede ringer are included in the price.
