Naga Singing Bowl – Harmonic Complexity & Inscription
SOLD
Antique Naga Singing Bowl. B & D/E Notes (Crown & Solar Plexus Chakras)
Weight 1 lb 10 ¾ oz (761g). 15 ½ x 11 ½ (rim) x 12 cm (approx. 6 ¼ x 4 ½ inches)
This antique Naga bowl is distinguished by its harmonic complexity, and the beauty of its fundamental note, a lovely low third octave B flat. The note is the same whether struck with a padded mallet or played around the rim with a suede ringer…but there are always other subtle harmonics present to add a little extra something. And if a hard wooden ringer is played around the rim the bowl will sing a sonorous fifth octave E.
This is a beautiful bowl with a stunning voice, and in excellent condition. It has the benefit of a fine dot-punched inscription sandwiched between a lotus and, unusually, an elephant!
