Himalayan Tiger Mask 35 x 23 x 16 cm (14 x 9 x 6 inches)

 

This is a large and characterful old Himalayan tiger mask with his jaws wide open and his teeth displayed. It appears to be carved in a softwood and is in excellent condition. It was purchased from a Tibetan antiques dealer in Kathmandu in the late 1980s and probably dates from the middle of the 20th century, possibly earlier.  There is a certain joyfulness about this mask that we find very attractive.
