This charming tiny antique Lingam Singing Bowl is, with one other, the smallest Lingam I have come across in 35 years of collecting, and therefore very rare indeed.
It is a perfect little bowl in every respect…superior quality, fabulous condition, fits snugly in the palm of the hand, responsive and easy to play, and sings sweetly! The fundamental note is B4 (484Hz) when struck or played around the rim.
This 19th century cup-like bowl is beautifully crafted with a curved wall of even thickness and a grooved lip with two bands of tiny cuts decorating the outer rim. There is a nice lingam surrounded by circles at the centre, and a neat navel or yoni underneath.
It is structurally sound, stain-free, and has a fabulous aged patina.
It’s hard to imagine a nicer small bowl, and would make a perfect gift!
