Polished Antique Remuna-Lingam Singing Bowl – Bb3 & Eb6

This 19th Century Remuna-Lingam Singing Bowl has a nice third octave Bb3 fundamental (228Hz) when struck with a padded mallet or played around the rim with a suede ringer.  The rim note changes to a high sixth octave Eb6 (1210Hz) harmonic with a wooden ringer.  This is a responsive bowl and easy to play.

Lingam bowls have a very distinctive sound, and Remuna bowls are renowned for their beautiful voices and ease of play.  This lovely bowl combines the best of both worlds.   It has the body and sonic characteristics of a Remuna bowl with its slightly globular wall, sheered lip, and decorative bands around the belly, now faint…but with the addition of a lingam that was once surrounded by two sets of circles, now gone,  at its centre, and a matching navel or yoni underneath. 

This is an old lingam bowl that has seen a lot of use but remains structurally sound and sings sweetly.  It has been polished inside and out, resulting in an attractive shiny, clean, stain-free golden appearance.
