Weight 0.91 kilos (2lb 0 oz). Size 19 x 8.5 cm (approx. 7 ½ x 3 ¼ inches)
This is a fabulous small antique Jambati Singing Bowl with a rare shape and a perfect pitch third octave A#/Bb fundamental (233Hz) when struck with a padded mallet or played around the rim with a suede ringer. The rim note will readily move into a fifth octave F (686Hz) harmonic with the suede or wooden ringer if desired.
This beautifully forged Jambati bowl has an usually small flat base relative to its diameter. It has a grooved lip. A band of decorative incised lines form a collar below the outer rim, and there are circles at its centre. The outer surface is nicely mottled with subtle hammer marks and the interior is smooth and golden. This attractive antique bowl is clean and structurally sound.
A fabulous and collectable little bowl with an unusual form and a superb concert pitch voice!
A Tibetan silk brocade bowl cushion, a padded striker and a ringer are all included in the price.
