Rare & Extraordinary Antique Lingam Singing Bowl – G4

This rare medium-size Lingam Singing Bowl has several distinctive and unusual features…a conical-like body, a flanged lip, and multiple decorative lines encircling it from the rim to the mid-point of the outer wall.  Its extraordinary shape leads me to think it might have been crafted with a special ritual purpose in mind, such as the preparation of herbal remedies or as a vessel for anointing.

At its centre there is a neat lingam surrounded and defined by two sets of circles, with a matching navel or yoni underneath.

It has a middle octave G4 (382-384Hz) fundamental when struck with a padded mallet or played around the rim with a ringer.

The structural condition of this interesting old lingam bowl is excellent.  It is free of stains and blemishes, and has a bright golden bronze colour.
