Antique Himalayan Carved Wood Male & Female Shamanic Phurba

Male 25.5 cm (10 ¼ inches) & Female 23.5 cm (9 ¼ inches)

This pair of Himalayan male and female phurba figures are the first of their kind that I have come across in 30 years of collecting ritual shamanic objects.  They were sourced in Nepal.

It’s important to appreciate that they are not simply primitive figure carvings, but are powerful ritual shamanic tools…in this case for literally pinning down negative forces by fastening them to the earth.  The legs of each figure are wrapped in metal to protect the wood when thrust into the ground. 

Threads of red cotton are attached to hand-made iron pins inserted into the head of each figure.

These extremely rare figures are in excellent museum quality condition, and would enhance any collection of shamanic power objects.  They have the look and feel of antiquity and purpose…and might indeed appeal to a Western practitioner.
