Antique Bell-Shaped Singing Bowl. Bb3 & Eb5 (Crown & Solar Plexus Chakras)
Weight 1.36 kilos (3 lb 0 oz). Size 19 x 11 cm (7 ½ x 4 ¼ inches)
This is a large antique bell-shaped singing bowl of a type rarely seen these days (circa 18th Century) with very thick, smooth, and slightly splayed walls and a sloping grooved lip. Most of the decorative incised lines have been worn down over the years, and there is a tiny dig in the floor (it has no impact on the sound), but this old bowl is otherwise in excellent and clean condition. It feels is very responsive and is a delight to hold and play.
The fundamental note is a concert pitch Bb (233/4Hz) when struck with a padded mallet or played around the rim with a suede ringer. The rim note changes to a fifth octave Eb if a wooden ringer is used.
A Tibetan silk brocade bowl cushion and a double-ended teak and suede ringer are included in the price.
