Rare Antique ‘Genie’ Singing Bowl – Fabulous D4 (288Hz) Voice

This interesting large antique bowl with its rare globular form is in exceptional condition for its age.  It has an antique golden bronze colour and is free of stains and blemishes.  This old bowl has a decorative band of suns set between parallel lines around the rim.  Below this is a series of triangular downward facing suns, now quite faint, having been worn down with the passage of time.

This rare antique bowl has a truly fabulous voice.  The fundamental note is a powerful middle D (288Hz) when struck or played around the rim with a suede ringer.  The rim note changes to an excellent fifth octave G# (817Hz) if a wooden ringer is used.  It is very responsive and easy to play.

The unusual globular shape of this old bowl results in a unique sound quality.  When struck or played around the rim the sound appears to build inside the bowl…and as it builds it becomes directional and escapes from its open mouth like a genie in a bottle! 

A Tibetan silk brocade cushion, a padded striker, and a double-ended teak and suede ringer are all included in the price.
