Antique Lingam Singing Bowl. D4 (Sacral Chakra)
Weight 891 grams (1 lb 15 ½ oz). 16.5 x 8.5 cm (6 ½ x 3 ¼ inches)
This antique Lingam Singing Bowl has a middle (4th) octave D fundamental (301Hz) if struck with a padded drumstick or played around the rim with a suede ringer. The rim note changes to a fifth octave A (867Hz) if a played with a wooden ringer. The D and A note combination is quite uncommon.
This is a very nice example of the Thadobati-shaped Lingam bowl with thick walls, a grooved lip and a central Lingam with a matching navel underneath. There are two decorative bands of dots around the outer rim, and circles at its centre.
This bowl is clean and in excellent structural condition, with a lovely golden bronze colour.
A Tibetan silk brocade bowl cushion and a double-ended teak and suede ringer are included in the price.
