This medium-size antique Lingam singing bowl has a nice middle octave Eb fundamental (307Hz) when struck with a padded mallet or played around the rim with a suede ringer. The rim note changes to a fifth octave A (870Hz) with a wooden ringer, and sometimes a sixth octave G# (1617Hz). This Lingam also has a long sustain.
This rare 19th century bowl takes the typical Thadobati form with gently curved high-sided walls and a flat bottom. There is a pointed lingam at its centre and a nice navel underneath. The outer rim is decorated with a border of dots.
The structural condition of this bowl is excellent and it is very clean for its age. The walls have been worn smooth over time and are nice to the touch. It has a very nice golden bronze colour.
