Rare Antique Mani Singing Bowl – Small and Pretty!
SOLD
Rare 16th – 18th Century Tibetan Mani Singing Bowl. C Note (Root Chakra)
Weight 1 lb 6 oz (621g). 12 x 7 cm (approx. 4 ¾ x 2 ¾ inches)
This has to be one of the smallest and prettiest of antique Mani or Charma singing bowls. It has all the physical and sonic attributes of larger Mani bowls but in miniature. It is well made, weighty for is size, with smooth outer walls, a wide inward-facing grooved lip, and typical decorative engraved bands just below the outer rim, the middle of the bowl, and concentric circles on the inside floor. This Mani bowl is in excellent clean condition for its age (200 – 400 years) and virtually free of blemishes.
The bowl sings a very high sixth octave C sharp whether struck with a padded mallet or played around the rim with a wooden ringer.
The picture on the right shows the size difference between this and a normal Mani.
A rare find…and a lovely little bowl in every respect!
