Antique Lingam Singing Bowl. Note: F3 (Herart Chakra)
Weight: 670 grams (1 lb 8 oz). Size: 20 x 8 (8 x 3 inches)
This is a nice example of a shallow-form Lingam Singing Bowl. Its low profile, gently curved bottom, and distinctive flanged lip are particularly rare. There is a neat Lingam at its centre surrounded and defined by two sets of circles, with a matching yoni or navel underneath. Decorative circles around its belly and underneath have mostly been worn away with the passage of time.
This antique singing bowl has a perfect pitch third octave F3 fundamental (174Hz) when struck with a padded mallet, and F3 (170Hz) when played around the rim with a suede ringer. The rim note changes to a fifth octave C5 (516Hz) with a wooden ringer.
This rare Lingam Singing Bowl (Circa 1800) is structurally sound, clean and stain-free with golden bronze colour and aged patina.
A Tibetan silk brocade bowl cushion and a double-ended suede and teak ringer are included in the price.
