Rare Bell-Shaped Tibetan Singing Bowl – Bb3 Note
SOLD
Antique Bell-Shaped Tibetan Singing Bowl. B Note (Crown Chakra)
Weight 3 lb 3 ½ oz (1.46 Kilos). 20.5 x 10cm (approx. 8 x 4 inches)
This is a large bell-shaped Thadobati Singing Bowl of a type rarely seen these days (circa 18th Century) with very thick slightly splayed walls and a sloping lip. At nearly 1 ½ kilos it is unusually heavy and has a simplicity of form and a certain gravitas that is usually only found in older bowls. It has the patina, colour, and the look and feel of antiquity.
The fundamental note is a low third octave B flat that is particularly beautiful when played around the rim with a suede ringer.
