This is a large and glorious antique Lingam Singing Bowl (circa 1800) in a fabulous state of preservation and with a voice to match…a beautiful third octave G# (204Hz) when struck with a padded mallet or played around the rim with a ringer.

This golden bronze bowl has a lovely shape with thick curved walls and a wide grooved lip.  It has a very neat and regular pointed lingam at its centre, and a superb navel underneath.   A pair of decorative incised lines, now faint in places, encircles the bowl below the outer rim.

This bowl is so smooth to the touch, inside and out, that it’s hard to imagine it was originally hammered into shape, and that the surface has been worn smooth through years and years of handling and use.

This is unquestionably one of the most beautiful singing bowls I have ever encountered…with a delicious deep golden colour that one could easily mistake for the precious metal itself!
