Weight 1.26 kilos (2 lb 12 ½ oz). Size 24.5 x 8.5 cm (9 ¾ x 3 ¼ inches)
This is an unusually large antique Manipuri Singing Bowl with an exceptional perfect pitch voice. The fundamental note is a third octave C#3 (138.5Hz) when struck with a padded mallet or played around the rim with a suede ringer. The rim note changes to a nice G5 (786Hz) with a wooden ringer. It’s a very responsive bowl and easy to play.
This antique Manipuri singing bowl is in superb structural condition, basically clean and stain-free, with an aged patina and a matt bronze colour. There are decorative circles at its centre and around the outer rim.
Antique Manipuri singing bowls were once the most common of all the bowl forms but are now seldom found, and bowls of this size and quality are virtually unknown.
A really great example of this bowl type, and with an exceptional concert pitch voice!
A Tibetan silk brocade cushion and a double-ended teak and suede ringer are included in the price.
