Antique Mani Singing Bowl. Note C5 – Root Chakra
Weight 1.63 kilos (3 lb 9 ¾ oz). Size 19 x 10 cm (7 ½ x 4 inches)
This excellent example of an Antique Mani Singing bowl is a little larger and heavier than most and has a good fifth octave C voice (528 – 532Hz) with a strong beat when struck or played. Unlike some Mani bowls, this one is very responsive and easy to play around the rim with a wooden ringer.
It has all the typical characteristics of this ancient bowl form…flat bottom, bulbous tapering walls, wide inward-facing grooved lip, circles at its centre including an ‘eye’, and well defined banding below the outer rim and around its belly. It is clean and structurally sound.
Antique Mani bowls are generally thought to be between 200 and 400 years old and are now very rare.
A Tibetan silk brocade bowl cushion and a double-ended teak and suede ringer are included in the price.
