Rare Large Antique Mani Singing Bowl – Eb5 (620Hz)
SOLD
Antique Mani Singing Bowl. Note: Eb5 (Solar Plexus Chakra)
Weight 1.53 kilos (3 lb 6 oz). Size 18.5 x 11 cm (7 ¼ x 4 ¼ inches)
This is a fine large example of this ancient Mani bowl form with all its typical characteristics…flat bottom, bulbous tapering walls, wide inward-facing lip, and decorative bands forming a collar around the outer rim. There are concentric circles at its centre, including an eye.
This bowl has a fifth octave EB5 (620Hz) fundamental when struck or played around the rim with a wooden ringer. It has a strong voice with a good beat, and unlike some, it’s responsive and easy to play around the rim.
This bowl has given long service and the decorative bands around its belly have been worn away with the passage of time, but it is in excellent structural condition with patches of copper oxidization and a nice aged look and feel.
Antique Mani bowls are generally thought to be between 200 and 400 years old and are now extremely rare, especially large and heavy ones such as this.
A Tibetan silk brocade bowl cushion and a ringer are included in the price.
