Rare Large Antique Mani Singing Bowl – Fab D5 Voice, Easy Play

This is a medium size Antique Singing Bowl with all the typical characteristics of this ancient bowl form…flat bottom, bulbous tapering walls, wide inward-facing grooved lip, circles at its centre, and decorative banding below the outer rim and around its belly.  Most of these decorative features have been worn smooth with use over the passage of time, but the bowl is in excellent structural condition.

It is very responsive and unusually easy to play for this type of bowl.   The fundamental note is an excellent and penetrating fifth octave D with a good beat.   As with all Mani bowls the struck and played notes are the same. 

Antique Mani bowls are generally thought to be between 200 and 400 years old and are now very rare.
