Antique Remuna-Lingam Singing Bowl. Note: F#3 (Heart Chakra)
Weight 532 grams (1 lb 2 ¾ oz). Size 17.5 x 8.5 cm (6 ¾ x 3 ¼ inches)
This is a very rare antique Remuna-Lingam Singing Bowl with an excellent low third octave F#3 (182Hz) fundamental when struck with a padded mallet or played around the rim. It is a Lingam Singing Bowls with the body shape and sonic characteristics of a Remuna.
It has the classic Remuna form with its fine gently curved and slightly conical walls, sheered lip, and decorative bands encircling the rim and belly…but with the rare additional feature of a prominent pointed lingam surrounded by circles at its centre, and a matching navel or yoni underneath.
Lingam bowls have a very distinctive sound, and Remuna bowls are renowned for their beautiful voices and ease of play. This lovely bowl combines the best of both worlds. With a diameter of 6 ¾ inches it’s a large bowl for a Remuna-Lingam, and its fine walls make it relatively light for its size.
This antique bowl is in excellent structural condition, clean and virtually stain-free, with light patches of copper oxidization and a nice golden bronze colour.
A Tibetan silk brocade bowl cushion and a double-ended teak and suede ringer are included in the price.
A lovely example of this very rare bowl form!
