This is a large high-wall antique Tibetan Lingam bowl.  It is an unusually thick and heavy bowl with a strong grooved lip and a large centrally placed lingam, with an equally impressive navel on the underside.  The bowl has a nice feel to it, and is in a good state of preservation for its considerable age. It has a lovely antique matt gold colour.

 

The fundamental note is a good mid octave G# whether struck with a padded mallet or played around the rim.  The struck note has an attractive and pronounced lingam beat or pulse.

 

Lingam bowls are now extremely rare, and bowls of this size, weight and condition are particularly sought-after by collectors and practitioners.  Buy it now before someone else does!
