Antique Divination & Singing Bowl. Notes: D3 & Eb6 (Sacral & Solar Plexus Chakras)

Weight: 465 grams (1 lb 04 oz).  Size: 18.5 x 4 cm (7 ¼  x 1 ½ inches)

This shallow antique singing bowl is a particularly nice example of the type of bowl used by shamans for divination with grains of rice, egg yolks, or entrails.  It could also be used as an offering bowl, and singing bowl.

This bowl has a sheered rim and a flat bottom with circles inside, some of which are barely visible due to long use and wear.  And unusually for a small bowl, it benefits from an inscription on the outer wall; a sure sign of the high esteem in which it was held by a former keeper.

The fundamental note is a third octave D3 (147Hz) when struck with a padded mallet or played around the rim with a suede ringer.  The rim note changes to a high sixth octave Eb6 (1212Hz) with a wooden ringer.

This rare divination and singing bowl (Circa 1800) is structurally sound, clean and stain-free with a golden bronze colour.

A Tibetan silk brocade bowl cushion and a double-ended suede and teak ringer are included in the price.
