Antique Lingam Singing Bowl.  Notes: F4 & B5 (Heart & Crown Chakras)
Weight 411 grams (0 lb 14 ½ oz).   Size 14 x 7.5 cm (5 ½ x 3 inches)

This rare small antique Lingam Singing Bowl circa 1800s has a concert pitch middle F4 fundamental (350Hz) when struck with a padded mallet or played around the rim with a suede ringer, and a close to concert pitch fifth octave B5 (990Hz) when played with a wooden ringer.

It has a gracefully curved wall with a sheered lip.  The lingam at its centre is surrounded by circles and there is a deep navel or yoni underneath.  A fine line encircles the inner wall at the midpoint, and there is another around the outer rim.

A double band of ritual gashes around the outer wall is a rare and interesting feature seldom seen on lingams.  They are thought to sanctify the bowl in some way, but their exact purpose is unknown.

This old bowl is physically attractive despite some minor blemishes, and is in good structural condition, clean, and free of stains.   It has an antique bronze colour with an aged patina and fits comfortably in the palm of the hand for playing.

A Tibetan silk brocade bowl cushion, and a double-ended teak and suede ringer are included in the price.
