Rare Small Antique Lingam Singing Bowl – B4 (482Hz) with Inscription

Weight 1 lb 6 ½ oz (638 grams).  Size 5 ½ x 2 ¾ inches (14 x 7 cm)

This is an exceptionally nice top quality small antique Lingam Singing Bowl.  The walls are unusually thick and would have been difficult to forge.  It has a grooved lip and a very pretty decorative collar just below the outer rim, with a series of incised lines encircling the mid point of the outer wall.  There is an excellent pointed lingam at its centre surrounded and defined by two concentric circles, and underneath there is a neat navel.

The fundamental note is a good middle B when struck or played around the rim.  A Tibetan silk brocade bowl cushion and a double-ended teak and suede ringer are included in the price.

This little bowl is in excellent condition and in good voice and, unusually for a Lingam bowl, benefits from a nice inscription on the outer wall.  A rare and beautiful little antique bowl!
