Rare Small Antique Mani Singing Bowl – C Sharp 6 Note
SOLD
Rare Antique Mani Singing Bowl. C Note (Root Chakra)
Weight 1 lb 11 oz (769g). 12.5 x 6.5 cm (approx. 5 x 2 ½ inches)
This is a nice quality small and characterful antique Mani or Charma singing bowl. It is well made, and quite weighty for its size. It shares all the same physical characteristics that are found on larger bowls of this type…bulbous belly, wide inward-facing grooved lip, decorative incised bands just below the outer rim, the middle of the bowl, and concentric circles on the inside floor. This Mani bowl is in very good structural condition for its age (200 – 400 years) and has the look and feel of antiquity.
The bowl sings a very high sixth octave C Sharp whether struck with a padded mallet or played around the rim with a wooden ringer. It’s a responsive and easy bowl to play, and the rim note is particularly nice.
